Distance sets the size
The right screen size comes from how far you sit, not the width of your wall. Measure from your eyes in your usual seat to the screen, then divide by the resolution factor. A sharper screen carries a bigger image at the same distance without looking soft.
4K versus 1080p
A 4K screen packs more pixels, so you can sit closer before you see the grid, which means a larger set feels right at the same distance. A 1080p set wants a little more room or a smaller screen. If you split the difference, aim for the comfortable range.
